Sensaciones
My good friend Sonja and her two sons have taken over Sensaciones in the narrow street between Bar America and Restaurante Juan. Fabulous and ridiculously cheap food and beer. This is a ‘must visit’ when you are in La Carihuela.
Mijn goede vriendin Sonja en haar twee zonen hebben Sensaciones overgenomen dat in het smalle straatje ligt tussen Bar America en Restaurante Juan. Heerlijk eten en bier aan spottelijk goedkope prijzen. Dit is echt een ‘must’ wanneer je in La Carihuela bent.
Blooming Real Food Cafe
This is one of my favourites! When you get fed up with deep-fat fried food, tapas smothered in mayonaise and white bread, Blooming is the place to be. They use fresh, pure, organic ingredients instead of processed food with preservatives. You can really taste the difference. They serve breakfast and salad bowls, smoothies, egg dishes and toasted artisanal sourdough spelt bread with wholesome toppings. It tastes amazing and looks great. Just before you get to the headland with all the cats, look to your left and you will find them there. They get very busy so you might want to book. Great food served with beautiful smiles!
Dit is een van mijn favorieten! Wanneer je gefrituurd eten, tapas overgoten met mayonaise en wit brood beu bent, dan moet je naar Blooming! Ze gebruiken verse, pure, organische ingredienten in plaats van geprocesseerde voeding met bewaarmiddelen. Je smaakt echt het verschil. Op de menu staan ontbijt-en saladebowls, smoothies, ei gerechten en geroosterd ambachtelijk zuurdesem speltbrood met gezonde toppings. Het is heel lekker en is mooi gepresenteerd. Voor je aan de bocht met katten komt, kijk links en je ziet Blooming liggen. Het is er vaak druk dus reserveren is een goed idee. Ze serveren fantastische gerechten met een mooie glimlach.
Restaurante Zio
An excellent Belgian restaurant without the Belgian prices next to Casa Pascual II which is on the corner of the square with the fountain. One of the only places where you can eat a Dame Blanche with warm melted Callebaut chocolate. Delicious!
Een fantastisch Belgisch restaurant zonder de Belgische prijzen naast Casa Pascual II op de hoek van het plein met de fontein. Het is een van de weinige plaatsen waar je een Dame Blanche kan eten met warme gesmolten Callebaut chocolade. Heerlijk!
La Taberna K Pasa
This is a great place, especially if you want something quick. I always sit at the bar, point at some delicious tapas and ask for a house wine. Their wines are delicious. It is a very sociable place and I always meet new people. The chef owner is Spanish and maitre d’ his Dutch wife so you have the best of both worlds.
Dit is een fantastische taverne, vooral als je vlug wilt eten. Ik zit altijd aan de toog, wijs naar lekkere tapas en vraag naar een huiswijn. Hun wijnen zijn heerlijk. Het is een heel vriendelijke tapasbar en ik leer er altijd nieuwe mensen kennen. De spaanse eigenaar is de kok en zijn nederlandse vrouw de maitre d’ zodat je het beste van 2 werelden krijgt.
Chiringuito El Lele
This beach bar is still an authentic Spanish family chiringuito. The granddad used to usher people in from the promenade. Behind the bar are several generations. I always sit at the bar and have some of their tapas with a cold beer and finish with a coffee. The beach bar is the closest to Santa Ana and Apartamento Ana so it is easy as well. It is one of the cheapest beach bars.
Deze strandbar is nog altijd een authentieke spaanse familiezaak. De grootvader lokte mensen binnen vanop de boulevard en achter de toog staan verschillende generaties. Ik zit altijd aan de toog, bestel wat tapa’s met een biertje en een koffie achterna. Deze chiringuito is het dichtste bij Santa Ana en Apartamento Ana dus het is ook nog eens gemakkelijk. Het is een van de goedkoopste strandbars.
Sushi Flower
Sushi Flower is the new sushi bar on the square with the fountain in La Carihuela. It is run by a Spanish couple. I have been to many sushi restaurants and was surprised that I didn’t know a lot of the names on the menu. Thankfully, the waitress was very helpful and explained everything patiently. We had starters, the two combos and desserts. The food was delicious and surprisingly cheap as Japanese food is usually quite expensive. Sushi Flower is a great addition in La Carihuela.
Sushi Flower is de nieuwe sushibar op het plein met de fontein in La Carihuela. De zaak wordt gerund door een Spaans echtpaar. Ik ben al in veel sushi restaurants geweest en was verrast dat ik veel namen op de menukaart niet kende. Gelukkig was de serveerster erg behulpzaam en legde ze alles geduldig uit. We bestelden voorgerechten, de twee combos en desserts. Het eten was heerlijk en verrassend goedkoop, aangezien Japans eten meestal vrij duur is. Sushi Flower is een geweldige aanwinst voor La Carihuela.
Remo Beach Club
This chiringuito specialises in fish and seafood. The food is delicious and the service is fantastic. Our Spanish waiter spoke English, Dutch, French and German and looked after us very well. The French toast with coconut ice cream is wonderful!
Deze chiringuito specialiseert zich in vis en zeevruchten. Het eten is heerlijk en de service is fantastisch. Onze Spaanse ober sprak Nederlands, Engels, Frans en Duits. Het verloren brood met kokosnootijs is superlekker!
Big Bull Steakhouse
If you like meat, this is the place for you. It’s on the square where the Eurocafe is. They personalise your meal so it is perfectly cooked for you. Willem prepared a stack of ribs for me, divided in three, so I could try the Georgia sweet honey, Texas smoky BBQ and the Manhattan dry rubbed sauces. It fell off the bone!
Als je graag vlees lust, is dit een aanrader. Het is op het plein waar de Eurocafe is. Ze personaliseren je gerecht zodat het perfect voor jou gekookt wordt. Willem heeft spareribs voor me gemaakt in drie stukken zodat ik de Georgia sweet honey, Texas smoky BBQ en de Manhattan dry rubbed sauzen kon proberen. Het vlees viel van het bot!
Mg Jamon
The prices at Mg Jamon are ridiculously cheap for a place opposite La Carihuela Beach. Everything seems to be 1 EUR, even the toasted ham and cheese sandwiches. There is no table service. You have to order at the very beautiful, authentic Spanish bar. This place gets very busy so finding a seat is sometimes a challenge.
De prijzen bij Mg Jamon zijn ongelofelijk laag voor een bar tegenover het strand in La Carihuela. Alles schijnt 1 EUR te kosten, zelfs een croque monsieur. Er is geen tafelservice. Je moet alles bestellen aan de heel mooie, authentieke spaanse toog. Het is er meestal erg druk en een lege tafel vinden is soms moeilijk.
Bar America
Who doesn’t know Victor and Bar America? When I first came to La Carihuela in the 90s, Victor ran a corner bar which was dependent on the weather. He has taken over the restaurants and kitchens around his bar and offers any kind of food: tapas, paella, sandwiches, hamburgers, pizza, sushi, etc. Whatever you want, Bar America has it.
Wie kent Victor en Bar America niet? Toen ik eerst naar La Carihuela kwam in de jaren negentig, had Victor een straat bar op de hoek en hij was afhankelijk van het weer. Hij heeft restaurants en keukens rond zijn bar overgenomen en nu heeft hij alle soorten eten: tapas, paella, broodjes, hamburgers, pizza, sushi, enz. Wat je ook wil, Bar America heeft het.
